Best Kept Secret Festival
We attended the second day of this 3-day festival in a wonderful location just outside Tilburg, next to a Safari Park and on the edge of a lake. With soft beach sand underfoot and lots of trees to shade from the hot sun (it was hot at 30C+) but this was well catered for with free Sun-Screen and plenty of cold drinking water on tap to fill up our bottles with. Volunteers even handed out mini deodorants...it must have been the freshest smelling festival ever!
With 9 music areas, ranging from big open-air stages to smaller, more intimate spaces for bands and DJ's, there was something for everyone.
This was more than just about the music...there was a vintage clothes shop (which seemed perfect for the masses who were camping there for the weekend, and freckly Scottish lasses like me who needed a hat to shade from the sun), a barber/hairdresser, jewellery sellers, book sellers, a vinyl record store, a band merchandise shop, countless food and drinks stalls, a lodge-type restaurant with top-class chefs, ice-cream vendors, massage and wellness areas...the list goes on. I think we spent more time walking around everything than watching the bands.
Great to see a festival so well organised. A short trip on their shuttle-bus service took us from the venue to the train station and home to The Hague.
