Lookout Mountain
We all gathered at 9:00 am for breakfast. When we realized we were in line behind a party of 32, we sighed. Happily, we got our meals with minimal wait. (Maybe our order was placed before theirs!). We loaded the cars and hubby’s oldest sister, niece and great niece headed back to Mississippi. His younger siblings are staying one more day. We decided to explore Lookout Mountain. We’ve been on the Chattanooga train but not up the mountain. Hubby drove us on the scenic route until we arrived at the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park. We hiked the shorter trails, took photos of some interesting rock formations, and flowers in the park and along the highway. We walked to the end point of the incline railway and watched the train depart. Next we drove to Soddy Daisy where hubby’s Dad grew up. We had lunch at a Mom and Pop restaurant. Just so happened they were also hosting a pool tournament. Never a dull moment when you travel with us. We stopped at the local veterans park (bottom right cell). There were plaques honoring local men who served. Hubby plans to have his Dad’s name added. We drove through Dayton, famous for the Scopes Monkey trials. Did not see the courthouse. We are heading north and will stay in the town where the kids live. We plan to visit with them tomorrow. Parker and Brooklyn both made it to the finals. Unfortunately, neither were crowned champs. But they played well and had a fun weekend with their parent. Stay safe friends. Crazy stuff happening. Thanks for visiting.
