A bellbird with an interesting attachment

I saw this bellbird in the garden over the last few days. I have no idea what is growing out of his throat - initially I thought something got caught but on closer look today it is a sort of growth. It is also quite soft because it is moving as the bird moves. Apart from that it looks as if the bellbird is healthy enough, eating (or sucking juice), preening and talk to the other bellbird! He even tried the sugar water for the waxeyes!
Beautiful sunny day today and now raining, so fire and book for me!
