The Dryad's saddles are in season once again.
These enormous polypore bracket fungi Polyporus squamosus, known colloquially as Dryad's saddles, have been erupting from this rotting tree stump for several years. Over that time they must have produced many billions of spores and yet I have only ever found one other example in the area. Not the fastest of breeders!
You can judge the size from an earlier photograph.
