Dry as a withered flower....

A profusion of bright yellow gorse flours are a feature of spring and early summer here, but the current drought (three weeks tomorrow since we had any rain, and that has been on top of a drier than usual March and April) has meant that the blooms have withered very quickly and now all the gorse - and there is lots of it - looks brown and increasingly stressed.

There is the possibility of some rain this weekend, but the ground is now so dry that most will run off, I fear, causing damage but not alleviating the problem  , the effects of which are  becoming visible in the lawns as well.
