Elochoman River
Well it's field season in western Washington and yesterday we spent the day on the Elochoman River in the lower Columbia watershed. The Elochoman has been severely impacted by timber practices and practically devoid of large wood in the channel. The one location the is influenced by large wood is and old railroad bridge where a large accumulation has racked up on a center pier. Bridge engineers would probably recommend all the wood be removed but us river folk like it where it is, as its creating the best pool in the lower river for fish.
