An Orcadian Adventure (6)

Back in time for today’s blip some 4000 (give or take an aeon or so) years. We headed of round to Brodgar to see the neolithic stone circle, if we were another month or so we would have seen the archaeologists at work in the Ness of Brodgar but the excavations are only worked in July & August. The two Brodgar sites along with Stones of Stenness form a huge site which is only now revealing some aspects of life that far back.
For the extra we go forward 3000 years to the times of the Norse runes, experts have deciphered this example to ossibly read ‘Hearts will win the Cup this year’, or even ‘Are you heading down the pub tonight?’ the knowledgable jury is out.
