what I talk about when I talk about fruit

It's only early afternoon and I've ready exceeded my 5-a-day. A lot easier in a country with a climate which lends itself to the growing of delicious fruit and a culture which values fresh produce. In Barcelona, I always like to visit the Mercat De la Boqueria, just off La Rambla. The fruit, as you can see, is wonderful, but so are the vegetables and the stalls which sell nuts or fresh herbs or 50 different kinds of dried mushrooms. And if I wasn't a vegetarian, I would be raving about the fish and the cured meats.

It's not only the markets, but the little shops which sell fresh food. Supermarkets stock very little fruit and veg - they don't need to.

Today's feast facts.. breakfast 2 nectarines and a giant orange. Lunch, a carton of cherry tomatoes, a carton of cherries and a delicious banana from the Canary Islands. Supper... can't wait!
