Down by the Medway

The Class108 DMMU yesterday brought back memories for many blippers who rode in this or similar vehicles in their youth. I do remember sitting in the seat right at the front on a journey from Nottingham to Crewe in the mid 1970s watching the track ahead. On this occasion the driver had not pulled down the privacy blinds. Nowadays on our railway we sell cab rides in the DMMU so people can experience this unique railway view. I’ve yet to do it myself.

A busy day as we prepared to travel to Ellesmere tomorrow. I think it’s all done including watering the allotment. It’ll have to take its chances in the forecast hot weather next week.

This morning I have an excellent meeting with the chair of the parish council and the admin officer about our plans for the allotment over the next twelve months. They couldn’t have been more helpful and supportive and will write a report for the Environment Committee detailing their support for our plans.

We ended in the banks of the Medway because Susan visited a local NHS eye care centre as she has had an irritation in her eye for a few days (not me!). It turned out to be an ingrowing eyelash which was extracted along with another much to Susan’s relief.
