The next superpower?

You have to love this place, in a love/hate sort of way.

This picture sums things up really. The local city council - the BMC - want Mumbai to be the next Shanghai or Dubai - a really modern world class city that will be a destination in it's own right.

So here's the road outside our hotel. The main business district of the city - the equivalent of Wall Street or the City of London. Earlier this week we walked to work, struck by the fact that the pavements have been dug up (how observational!), with a vague view to replacing them.

That was four days ago. Nothing has happened since. The monsoon is coming in a few weeks, when everything gets washed away...

As I said, a love/hate relationship :-)
