Straw mulch

I was beside myself when a friend brought me a straw bale from her brother's farm last weekend!

They go such a long way - as well as mulching around the base of squash plants (some yet to germinate!), I've done the greenhouse, sunflowers and the newly resown rows at the back of the plot. And there's still plenty more for tomatoes, courgettes etc. 

It's such a useful thing to have on an allotment!
