Sommarøy

Rather a grey cold day with persistent rain in the morning. Not a day for photography.

We first walked around the village and island of Sommarøy. It was so quiet and peaceful, no traffic, no people, only the noise of the gulls. There were also many robot lawnmowers silently going about their business - every garden seemed to have one!!

After lunch we climbed Hillesøy, the hill behind our hotel. It is according to the Norwegian grading system an "easy" walk, but it still required scrambling and pulling yourself up with a rope! As we've done quite a bit of walking in Norway we were quite prepared for this. We made it to the summit and the views back over the island were terrific. The descent involved more ropes but had some superb views towards Senja, just a shame about the low cloud obscuring the mountains.

Although there is 24 hour daylight up here, there are still not enough hours in the day and I am going to struggle to keep up with everyone. Apologies.
