Poppies by the sea
When I blipped the Bluebell woods on May 3rd, I remember thinking it would only be another month until the poppies would be flowering. That month has flown! Last Friday a friend sent me a photo of the poppies which were only just starting to appear. All that sun has meant that in just a few days they are in full bloom!
I’ve been to see them every year for a long time. But even though I know how it will be I am still always amazed. There was a cool wind which I was glad of, because out if the wind I was too hot.
For the first time the NT has put some posts and ropes in place to discourage people from walking over the poppies so they can get ‘better’ photos. Despite this people were still doing it! One gate to a particularly attractive poppy field has a ‘no entry’ notice on it and the latch was tied with rope. A man just came along and climbed over the gate and went into the field. There are so many fields of poppies where you can walk down proper tracks to see the flowers so there is just no need to climb gates or ignore roped off areas. I did put one photo of trespassers on the area’s Facebook page but the admins have rejected it.
