As the weekend sort crept up on us both, rather than go all in for Gerrys Hostel / Maolle Luindhe by train, a more circumspect train trip to Tweedbank was settled upon.
I met Her and hound at the station and an hour later we exited to warm sunshine on the erm banks of the Tweed!!!
A sedate stroll along the south bank of said river and soon enough we rolled into Melrose proper. She was slightly nervous about bumping into a since estranged friend (long story) so was on high alert as we picked our way through town. Instead of the erstwhile friend however my sister law hollered at me - she was in the process of test riding an e bike. And sure enough, there was my big brother too. They live in Peebles ish so neither of us could have expected to see the other on unfamiliar ground.
Anyway, half an hour later, the bike duly purchased, we headed off up into the Eildon hills. Thankfully a cool breeze hit as we gained altitude and bar a few others - maybe 10? - it was pretty quiet. Views to Englandshire and the coast; its a fine vantage point.
Having drunk in the views, we descended to drink in some tea before H and h decided a swim was in order.
A short stroll from the river to the train and back home for a well earned beer, the 2nd half of the Scottish Cup final.
Trying to get Loki to pose for a shot on the summit proved impossible (well, apart from the extra)
