THE CLASS OF 2023
It's MonoMonday and the Challenge is "Lighting...of any kind."

This is a stretch...but when I got to the high school to shoot the Class Portrait for the 105th Commencement Exercises at our little school...NOTHING was set up. AND there was no one there to run the light board. So I had a heart-to-heart talk with the class and asked if they could stand very still for a time exposure. They agreed to try. So...with nothing but ceiling lights (the "lighting...of any kind" connection) I decided to make a time exposure....several exposures actually as the probability of "closed eyes" due to blinking increased by a quantum level during a time exposure. So several shots were made and I think I got pretty lucky with the eyes.

Small school....small class....only 32 bodies of which 4 are foreign exchange students...one of whom left to go home to Germany early because of a need for knee surgery after being injured while playing on the basketball team. Yet this class was outstanding both academically and athletically. There are three among them who will study to become MDs or Physician Assistants...and two for nursing. Several are going into Environmental Engineering and/or science based professions. There's a potential political scientist among them and a couple of teachers. And several of them will also be attending college on athletic scholarships in basketball and track and field. I've forgotten all of the other possibilities...suffice it to say that we are proud of all of their accomplishments.
