Some runners in the Chariots of Fire race.

The Chariots of Fire 5k race. A nice day for it for those running. Return leg, the procession stretches north back along West Sands. A fine spectacle.

The West Sands featured in the iconic 1980s film of the same name. Chariots Of Fire told the story of Eric Liddell and Harold Abrahams, who both won gold medals for Britain at the 1924 Paris Olympics.

The famous slow-motion beach run depicted white-clad runners training barefoot on wet sand as waves break close by is memorable. As over the years the participants wear predominantly white, and a few today ran barefoot on the sand.
