Commune

To the Palace Broadway to see Limbo, written and directed by Ivan Sen, who also did the cinematography and music. I loved his earlier films, especially Mystery Road. Goldstone to a lesser extent. All are set in the outback and feature aerial shots reminiscent of dot paintings; wide shots that make closeups sudden and intimate; silences and gunshots. Limbo upped the ante with the b&w moonscape of Coober Pedy.

The living area, pictured, is usually open to the street but also usually peopled. It’s part of a building formerly used for light industry.

Thanks for hosting Marlieske.
