Lettuce

I’ve got lovely planters in my courtyard and it turns out that they have morning sun and afternoon shade. Perfect for lettuce. And peas. I’ve had the most extraordinary crop of lettuce this spring. And uneaten by slugs since they’re not in a garden in the ground, if you know what I mean. I (and many friends) have been feasting on it for a couple of months now. Thrilled to bits!

A busy day - I took my granddaughter, who spent the night last night, to a party this morning. Not like any typical kid party you’ve ever been to! It was on some acreage owned by the birthday girl’s family in NW Portland. There was a zip line (close to the ground), a half-finished barn, a small RV (with bathroom!),and dad took two (helmeted) kids at a time on his ATV through the property. A blow up bouncy castle kept the girls hysterically entertained for hours. And the parents and grandparents (I was not alone in this duty) had some delightful chats. All in all a fabulous day!
