marathon

Today was beyond what I expected challenge-wise. I’m a pretty good walker but somehow got terrible blisters early on in Cancer Reaearch’s big hike and spent 18 miles trying not to wince! It’s amazing how you can kid your brain into ignoring pain for many miles and then spend the next few miles telling your feet to please stop complaining so loudly. I also learnt that I should never underestimate water requirements- it was a hot old day! The blisters and fatigue were worth it if we can beat cancer.

Antony and the children collected me after I’d finished and all looked quite taken aback when I sunk into the car and sobbed. Rarely been so drained.

Gratefuls:

1. Beautiful views;
2. A big fat pizza;
3. Antony being super kind.
