Safari

We deduced these trails were safari ants, in places forming tunnels with their own bodies, with the white bits the eggs they were carrying. They swarmed everywhere, and were very good at jamming their jaws onto socks and boots.

It was an early start for today’s safari (journey). We left Songea to return to Dar es Salaam, which involved a very detailed search of every inch of our luggage at Songea Airport, due to its broken scanner. It was overkill for a domestic flight and a route of little interest to anyone.

I felt zombie-like for the rest of the day but I had to field various planning issues for the week ahead.
