Butterflies
Mum, Anthony and I were in attendance when Tom, a friend of Anthony’s who did the engraving, came to put Dad’s headstone in place. It’s a beautiful piece of Portland stone but what makes it truly special is the carving. One of Dad’s most favourite things was butterflies and these are all specific and beautiful. I think you can just make out a Peacock butterfly in the photo. As the light changes the carvings shift in depth and density and under this dappled tree it will look lovely and weather down nicely.
We took Mum to lunch at the village pub for a fish and chips lunch.
Anthony came over for a cup of tea on his way home to see V who had had to stay behind to wrangle a visit from BT as the internet has been patchy. By the evening it was worse and we limped through an episode of Poker Face in stop start mode.
