Flowers from John

Fridays are always better than Mondays, even now that we have very little to differentiate. John's 'light shows' have finished, although the doctor who ordered them was unable to do his follow-up visit because she is on 'medical leave'. He saw the Physician's Assistant on Monday who gave him a couple of anti-itch prescriptions but didn't comment on much else. I think he feels a bit in limbo about the whole thing and it was not helping his mood. He does tend to be a 'worrier' (not the mental kind but the kind who can't leave things like itchy spots alone). He becomes a bit obsessed with it all and isn't very good company. I pointed this out to him and today, when we stopped at the pet store for dog food, he came back with this lovely bouquet which he got at the nearby florist.  He doesn't always have a way with words, but he does know how to win me over.

The weather is finally moving toward summer, or at least late spring. Of course the newspaper couldn't let us enjoy the near perfect days (today is the first morning we woke up to sunshine in a long time) but was full of dire headlines about a 'hotter than normal' June. I decided not to read further and just try to follow my usual policy of taking things as they come, including the weather.

We have been veering between 'The Diplomat' and 'Queen Charlotte'. John doesn't like either one of them but I quite like both of them, although I find that binge watching doesn't work with either of them as a little bit goes a long way. I am,  however, really enjoying Blipper  Booky_Goatherd's fact checking of 'The Diplomat'. She is in a good position to know as she is herself a diplomat in Belize.

It's pretty clear to me that Queen Charlotte is a parody, but I'm a little unsure about the 'race swapping' and the fact that it appears to be a fictional story based on real historical characters. It's still fun to watch but why not just have  programs with fictional characters and Black actors?

It looks like it might be warm enough to sit outside with our wine this evening. A perfect way to end a week which didn't get off to a very good start....
