Beneath the plane
This is the huge plane tree in Brunswick Square Gardens in Bloomsbury; I blipped some information about it last October. Today I found its huge, gnarled branches twisting above a tapestry of pink and mauve flowers. I had too little time and patience to note clearly what they all were, but I loved the purple alliums and the overall effect was glorious.
We were in London for another appointment at the neurological hospital in nearby Queen Square, to review J's wrist and arm splints and look at a possible neck support collar. The physio and OT from the cerebral palsy team were patient, meticulous and helpful, as ever. Access to this kind of specialist expertise is far too rarely available for most adults with cerebral palsy, so we remain very pleased that she was referred to this team a couple of years ago and they continue to support her.
After the early afternoon appointment, we drove painfully slowly through heavy traffic to Greenwich park, where, after five o'clock, we ate the rest of the picnic lunch we had started several hours earlier in Brunswick Square. It was bright, though the wind was chilly, and J enjoyed the many dogs being walked there and the green parrots swooping between the chestnut trees. She was also delighted that while I was taking her to the hospital, P had returned from a little foray into Waitrose in Brunswick Square with her favourite chocolate eclairs for dessert.
