Hoverfly (Myathropa florea)
A much better day's weather, though a cool wind kept temperatures down. A neighbour helped me swap old fence panels for new ones which should outlast us all.
The pyracantha hedge that surrounds the top patio has never had a greater abundance of flowers. It was a veritable sea of flies collecting the nectar including this hoverfly. Thankfully it was very bright allowing me to use a smaller aperture to get more depth of field in the shot. Always fascinating to see the complexity of their composite eyes and their bodies.
