Today’s train journey was to Sion. Once there the first stop was at the bakery for some ‘pastries’ to fuel us for the climb ahead. Just up to the fortified church on top of a hill with views to the castle on the neighbouring hill. A long steep climb and I’ll never again complain about the walk back from the Ambleside shops to home!
From there a different route back through town where we bought some picnic items and then a short bus ride to Les Iles. It’s a park with large lake ( once a gravel pit), play areas and trees to shelter under. While three chose to swim the other three relaxed in the shade.
Back in Martigny there was time for ice creams before the train up the hill. Ewan went to the local butchers for barbecue food then Jason cooked.
Finally some planning for the next four days to ensure everyone got a choice of what they most wanted to do.
A selection of extras.
Do we look like tourists?
