Bird’s - eye Primrose
Primula farinosa. A small perennial Primrose with stems and the leaf underside covered with a white floury powder which gives rise to its Latin name.
It grows in our local National Nature Reserve aound the edge of the Marl lake. The damp, lime rich soil there is very much to its liking.
This morning a small group of Natural England volunteers were counting the number of these plants on the site.
When I left they had reached over 1800 but had another area still to complete.
