1774: Parliament completes the Coercive Acts with the Quartering Act
Quote Of The Day
"No Soldier shall, in time of peace, be quartered in any house without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law."
(The Quartering Act)
Being an early bird, I checked my email before the announcement that school would be closed today owing to a kei ho. I was already on my way to school when a second email was sent out to staff.
Luckily, the school's Head Secretary had also missed the announcement and so when I arrived at school the doors were open. I only discovered that the school was closed when I checked the email in my classroom. So, luckily, I was able to get my pupils' Unaided Writing books, and my school laptop, and take them home with me. I then spent the day completing the Summer Term A.P.P.'s, happily reflecting on the amount of progress so many of them have made this year, with several pupils moving up two whole year grades in their writing assessment levels.
