Camping Day One

Set of for a camping trip with our friends Wendy and Paul and Wendy's girls, Daisy and Ellie.

A lovely site in Sussex, very cut off and basic, with rabbits and horses in the fields and lovely dogs running everywhere.

We pitched our tents and went for a walk around the picture-perfect Working Title-esque villiage. The church even has a kissing gate surrounded by white roses in full bloom! There is a small river running through the villiage green across which locals have an annual tug-of-war contest, each team trying to pull the other into the water! It's like something out of a movie!

Back at the campsite, the children disappeared off into the woods for hours, collecting wood and mucking about. We could hear their shrieks of laughter!

They bought back lots of wood but we also bought some logs from the campsite owner. We built our fire and then set up a very makeshift barbeque. Makeshift because we had brought ours but forgot a bit, and they had bought theirs and forgot a bit, so we sort of had to mix them together to make one which functioned - sort of!

We played a quiz game around the camp fire as it got dark, children vs adults, and it all got rather competitive and loud. The children won but I blame the wine for our defeat!
