Bridge Operator House
This cubistic Bridge Operator House (build in 1958) in Amsterdam belongs to the Hortus Bridge I blipped before. This building was designed by the Dutch architect Dic Slebos. He was also a member of the Liga Nieuw Beelden, a league established in 1955 for the integration of art and architecture in public space. In fact, it was a combination of artists, architects and other creative persons from various denominations (like sculpture, architecture, painting etc), such as the famous COBRA movement, Vrij Beelden, Groep 54 and Creatie.
The building itself is strongly influenced by Le Corbusier and Rietveld.
BTW, in the background you can see the fascinating Hortus Botanicus.
