Wolf 1228

Very early start to meet our guide outside the hotel at 5am. Headed into the park to see what we could see first thing in the morning. Stopped by the side of the road where someone else was and saw 2 young grizzle bears walking around quite a distance away. The guide had some proper spotting scopes which meant we were able to see them properly. They were walking around trying to find some food and stopped under a tree with at bald eagle in the top. The bald eagle flew off as it was being bothered by a couple of ravens. The bears hung around for a bit longer but eventually went over the top of the hill. Headed further into the park and stopped off at the den of the wolves to see if anything was happening but they weren’t out at the time. Near to where we saw the bear yesterday the traffic had stopped. While we were waiting to see what was going on a wolf walked close to the herd of bison then crossed the road just behind the car. The guide thought it was a wolf called 810. Went a bit further into the park but didn’t manage to see anything so turned around the head back. Stopped off at the side of the road where some others had stopped to find another wolf lying on the other side of the river. Stayed there for a while taking photos, but it was a bit too far for my camera. Manged to set JA camera up on my tripod to get some shots using his lens which is better. Had breakfast while we were waiting for the wolf to move which he eventually did over the field out of view. Started to head back to the wolf den but stopped again to see another couple of Grizzley bears on the top of the ridgeline on the other side of the valley. You wouldn’t have known they were where without the spotting scopes. Stopped to see if the wolf cubs were out but nothing was going on so headed further home. Another stop by the side of the road and we saw some more grizzlies on the very top of the hills but too far away to take a photo. On the way back we saw a coyote walking along the side of the road and stopped to take a few photos. Finally we saw a black bear near the side of the road but weren’t able to stop. Back to the hotel for around noon to have a shower and lie down for a bit. Went out in the evening to see what the park was like around sunset. No animals but the light was fantastic on the hills and trees.
