Despite being told to expect 2–3 weeks in hospital before the next operation could be carried out, I was discharged within a couple of days and given clear instructions to keep the broken ankle raised above heart height. Consequently, I've spent many hours lying on the sofa with a view of the garden and doing all sorts of activities to keep my mind occupied and away from daytime TV!

Just over a week after the accident, the whole ankle and foot is very swollen, but thankfully not too painful.
