Mock Crest House

We walked to the Mock Crest House this morning, curious about all the dirt in the front yard, the latest visible change in the years-long renovation of the huge 1894 Victorian. We lucked out as the owner was there (a former parent at the school where Eric taught) and he gave us a tour of the basement and an explanation of why it's taking so long to get the house restored to its former elegance. The reasons are many, but all the dirt in the front yard is because he is having the basement lowered (it will have 9' ceilings!) in order to install very long steel supports that will hold up the turret he plans to reattach.
