Le Fromage et le Vin

Rather boring day really. I pretty much just cleaned all day while Jen went to supermarket to get the supplies for the evening, the evening being the Cheese and Wine event (more on that later). When she got back she started cleaning another van, but stopped early to start cooking for the evening. Even so it was a big rush to get stuff done. When I arrived back, having finished my clean, I still had to chop up all the potatoes, onions and then fry/boil those, plus the eggs and make a potato salad before preparing all of the cheese for the evening's event. Somehow we have bought more wine than needed, as only half of our stock was drank...which means more profit for next week yey! This is our tables set up, just before the food went on them. I would have taken a photograph of the full table, but there really wasn't time - so here is an approximation of what it would be!

So why do we have a wine and cheese night? The company I work for tries to offer something a bit different in terms of holidays, with couriers who speak French and are not paid to sell anything but are instead paid to make sure that everyone goes well with the holiday and to run Kid's Club, a Teen night and the Wine and Cheese evening (with unlimited wine and food, with other things for the kids). The final event is the only thing we ask for money with so we can buy in the supplies, which I think is fair enough! So the whole holiday is organised for the customers, without the added pressure of reps selling things. Personally the evening really is a brilliant way to get to know the other people on-site - from the one evening we have run we noticed just how well everyone mixed...no one left until it was dark and too cold to stay outside! Successful evening altogether I think!
