Bank Holiday Again!
Today was the day for our annual visit to Greys Court near Henley. It's a fabulous National Trust property which has a spectacular bluebell walk.
It's so late this year, normally we go in early May. In fact in 2009 we were there on May 2nd and Miss E's first tooth appeared while we were there. Finally! At the age of thirteen months!!
I felt much better this morning having gone to bed at 9.30pm last night.
It took over an hour to get to Greys Court from Milton Keynes most of which was spent by Miss E and Miss L whining that they were hungry/hot/thirsty all interspersed with many cries of "when will we be there?"
But we got there eventually and went straight to the cafe for a scrummy - if ludicrously expensive - lunch!
Then we had a wander round the gorgeous gardens. They are beautiful, I think my favourite of any National Trust place we've been to.
There's a newt pond which we couldn't get Miss E away from, a huge, rambling 120 year old Wisteria which has to be seen to be believed, a huge kitchen garden, an orchard and wildflower meadow, and many other walled garden "rooms" all looking stunning. Mason bees, fountains, greenhouses, countless secret doors, arbours, gates and nooks and crannies. I love it!
There's also a maze of brick paths which the Little Misses wore themselves out running around!
And after all that there's the reason we actually went: the bluebell woods. Magical! And impossible to capture.
I took over 200 photos today! It was a tough choice but I thought it had to be bluebells!
Then it was home. Listening to the play-off final. Pah.
And to all the washing up and mess we left behind on Saturday not knowing we weren't going to be home for three days!!
I think tonight will be another early night and another chance to make some headway into Game of Thrones. Poor Mr K has seen the current episode about four times. I just can't stay awake until the end!!!!
