Male woodpecker
Today JanetH and I took advantage of the Bank Holiday and went down to Marton Heath to a bird hide near lakes and woods. We have been before and really enjoyed it. We saw lots of different woodland and garden birds as well as a pair of elderly swans and their sygnet. We were told that the female was 20 years old, the male was 40 years old and that there had been nine eggs but only one hatched.
I think this must be a young male woodpecker as it was smaller than the other woodpeckers we saw. All in all it was a great day out.
