Capital Reef National Park
So many photographic opportunities again today - and so hard to pick one. We made it to Torrey, Utah along Highway 24 which goes through the Capital Reef National Park. The weather was overcast and then quite stormy, but in between the wind gusts and rain showers, the sun appeared for brief moments and I managed to capture these shining orange cliffs with the grey and red foothills.
We wandered along a 10 mile scenic route, through gulleys with warning signs to keep out if storms were predicted due to potential flash flooding, and mile after mile of spectacular scenery. We watched a documentary at the visitor centre which was most informative of this amazing area - the photography of course was superb. And with the ranger's help we planned a day's 4 wheeling which we hope to do tomorrow, depending on the weather. They say the bentonite clay can bog you down in a heartbeat if there is too much rain. So here's to fine weather.
Tonight is very cold - what a change after the heat in Santa Fe. Thank goodness for our trusty propane heating.
