Commemoration
Todays blip is of the Shrine to miners in Prestonpans, East Lothian.
I am blipping it as a commemoration to the Easington Colliery Disaster, County Durham, which happened today in 1951, where an explosion killed 83 miners.
It’s important to remember that there have been, and are many dangerous occupations, people who risk their lives on a daily basis to serve the country.
Personally, my connection to Easington is that Martin’s dad worked in the colliery around this time.
Have a good day all.
