They met back in The Day (1969) when Sam (on the right) opened his bar Paris Blues
which still exists, virtually unchanged, Although everything else in this Harlem neighborhood has changed dramatically. The pub (behind them) still has the original bar, fixtures and piano. Music every night, never a cover charge. And Sam. He's 77 now, no plans to retire.
