Barbican: Before Hainbach

More multi-faceted in large
Extra: Hainbach in action
Back blip

Im and I went to a concert at the Barbican in the evening. We went to see Hainbach who is an experimental electronic musician from Berlin, mostly producing music made using laboratory test equipment, old electronic instruments, and tape media (à la BBC Radiophonic Workshop or Stockhausen). Hainbach was actually supporting the artist Rival Consoles, but 'though we gave the main act a chance, we only stayed for 30 minutes after Hainbach had finished his warm-up turn on stage because Rival Consoles was a bit too rave-y. Hainbach was great, creating music there and then using various tape loops, an old analogue drum machine, a portable synthesizer, a kalimba, a modular sampler/delay synth, and some processing/effects devices.
We went into town early, so I took pictures in the Barbican as we enjoyed the early evening there by the water.
