Royal York Hotel, Toronto

We had a fabulous night in the Royal York Hotel, opposite Union Station, before starting our journey.

The hotel was built in 1928 by the Canadian Pacific Railways and was the largest in the British Commonwealth.

The train station was impressive too!

It took about 1 - 1.5 hours to pass the Toronto suburbs.  We then spent the hours till sunset and bedtime travelling through huge bodies of water truly in the middle of nowhere!
