Under Attack!

This is the first time the damn dear deer have snacked on my hosta plants.  The left picture shows their handiwork and hoof prints.  It was time for defensive action.  I put a basket over them last night.  After I took this picture, I anchored the basket handles with tent stakes.  I'm happy to report, no attack last night.  You can see where they pawed up the landscape cloth and kicked the stones.  I'll need to do this every night for a while.  You can also see my wonderful new cultivator with revolving tines.  It works the soil quickly and easily.  A great improvement.  As Dad always said, "the right tool matters."

Gift#146: a successful defense of my hosta.
