Flower Garden

Despite the changes in ownership and management at Trail House, we continue to meet there on Friday mornings. As usual, it was not crowded, but they had the music turned up quite loud and a group across the way had voices which carried across the room.  I wondered if they turned the music up because their voices were so loud or if the voices were loud because the music was turned up. They left eventually and the music remained loud but that was probably like the tax effect. Once raised, they are never lowered.

We had conversations about tomatoes...nobody's are doing well because it's been so cold at night...parenting...children like boundaries. When a kid is screaming in a restaurant is not the time to reason with them...memorial services...Tobi arrived dressed in black because she was leading one nobody else wanted to...our dinner gathering tomorrow evening at Dan and Tobi's where we will meet her new batch of chicks which are still living in their house, also because it is so cold at night.

We went our separate ways and I took a picture of the little garden next to the Trail House sign as we were leaving...another good thing the new management didn't mess with. It's a small area but always beautifully maintained and especially colorful this time of year.

John and I went to Olivers so Spike, who had been removed to the back of the car, did too. John usually does the shopping by himself and it had been so long since I've been there I felt a bit lost and like I was going in circles. They are always reorganizing things and my plan to buzz quickly through the store to get the things I needed for appetizers tonight never came to pass. But we got a bunch of food and the challenge will be to figure out what to do with it.

There will be no cheese with our wine with the neighbors tonight. I have prepared little  bay shrimp in endive leaves, mango, avacado and cucumber salsa with chips, and smoked salmon on toast with a bit of creme fraiche and capers. Paul, who hates seafood will have to content himself with salami....
