Extension!
Another glorious May Day, and a day off work to relish it. In the meadow the hawthorn are in flower, along with buttercups and red campion.
I popped to the allotment after walking Merlin and met the new caretakers of the plot next to mine. Both are on the allotment committee and we got chatting. They mentioned that the plot behind me had become available and wondered if I was interested in it. I’ve decided to take it on and see how I manage. To be honest, I’ve had my eye on it for a while but didn’t imagine it would come free.
So my allotment ‘extension’ has an asparagus bed which is rather exciting and I know it’s also a plot which has been kept chemical free for many years. It was fully dug over and cleared two years ago and I think much of it has been covered since then, so despite appearances I’m hoping it won’t be too much hard work to clear.
This afternoon I’ve done another dog walk as Andy has injured a ligament in his knee so is out of action. He’s got it elevated and iced up, and is mixing resting with gentle walking in the garden.
Hoping your day has gone well x
