Degree Show Time @eca_edinburgh

Tis the season for art writers to visit big massive exhibitions...
Today I pitched up at Edinburgh College of Art for a whistle-stop preview. My words of wisdom (or not) will be in this Saturday's Herald Arts supplement.
Going round a degree show is always a dizzy-making experience and by the time we reached Dennis Reinmüller's show, I was feeling quite light-headed.
Not, however, as light-headed as this guy...
Dennis, who is from Germany, told me he'd taken forever to fashion the blood blobs out of metal, filing them down before lacquering them a most excellent crimson.
I like his style.
The decapitated man was wearing a better belt than him too, added Dennis.
Dennis also has a performance aspect to his work. This Thursday at the art school, he will be 'Trapping the Spirit' of his countryman Joseph Beuys, who famously exhibited in this building in the 70s as part of Strategy: Get Arts
This exorcism will take place at 6.30pm.
For a flavour, have a watch of this video. Madcap comedy for art-geeks... with a sideways swipe at Glasgow School of Art: Dennis' The Exorcism of Joseph Beuys - Part 2

Apparently another spirit will be replacing Joseph Beuys' spirit. Could there be a link between this fact and the decapitated man with most excellent iron blood?

Who knows?
