The Shard.
As a girl, Clickychick spent many holidays down here staying with an Uncle and Aunt. For our last day in London, she wanted to enjoy the feeling of being in London wandering about going where the impulse took her.
We started with a river cruise from Westminster down to Greenwich. Lunch in Greenwich and then back up to Westminster. This took a large part of the day. We then made our way along to the Millennium Bridge. Stopping for coffee, photographing anything and everything as we wandered along, passing the Globe Theatre. On one of the narrow streets as we went along we were presented with this view of The Shard. The contrast between the older buildings and the modern struck me.
For those who don't know The Shard or The London Bridge Tower as it was originally known is the tallest building in the UK at just over a thousand feet (309.6m) and the 7th tallest in Europe. That is 72 stories, designed by the Italian Renzo Piano. Disappointingly, well from my point of view anyway, the tower is 95% owned by the state of Qatar.
