Magical Ullswater
We agreed to meet at 8:30. I was there at 8am taking photos of a beautiful glassy lake, see extra. I blew my board up with my electric pump. The other 2 hand pumped theirs - hats off to them.
We paddled over to Andy, the swan whisperer before paddling off to Norfolk Island (an island in the middle of Ullswater). Our next stop was Stybarrow - a lovely beach and diving spot for proper divers. It’s very deep! We enjoyed our pitstop.
Paddling back into the middle of the lake we came across Wall Holm island. A distressed Oyster catcher was squalling at us. I think it though we were after it’s young.
We were practically opposite The Inn on The Lake at this point. It would have been lovely to have had lunch there but we did not partake, I mean we weren’t dressed for the occasion!
It was a long hard paddle against the wind back to Glencoyne. We had a refreshing swim, more like a prolonged dip to revitalise us before heading off home. We’d paddled at least 6km.
It’s been a good day.
