Weeding Can Be Fun

Here are J and her daughter, along at Joppa Pans, doing a bit of weeding of one of the flower beds. It was planned to be a weeding session with the Joppa Shoreline Group but no one else turned up to help. They try to keep the weeds down so that the council won't use harmful weedkillers. To be fair, J said this was the first time she has been down there on her own. We chatted a bit about the problems of motivating volunteers and how to foster the sense of community that encourages people to take care of their surroundings. (Rather than moaning that 'the council should be doing it'.) I got back to discover United had conceded two more shocking goals, in a season of defensive howlers. They were completely relegated at one point when County led 3-2 and although technically St Johnstone's late equaliser means United could overtake Ross County into the play-off spot, it would take an eight goal swing, so isn't going to happen. Both my teams could get relegated with the same woeful number of points.
