Somerset Monument
Near Hawkesbury Upton, South Gloucs - built by Lewis Vulliamy in 1846 in memory of Robert Edward Henry Somerset. He was a soldier son of the 5th Duke of Beaufort, (whose ancestral home is at Badminton), who had served with distinction at Waterloo and died in 1842.
Very wet and dreary weather for the cycle today - nearly 70 miles in constant drizzle.
