Brave Blackbird

Living dangerously, hopping after both our cats, who were accompanying us on a walk at dusk. Look at Aduro's tail, obviously scared, not quite as relaxed as yesterday's photo.

Mike spent the day working on the roofing panels, and I on trying to improve our "lawn". We looked yesterday for clover seed to plant, but couldn't find any, so I've been picking out stones, raking, adding compost, and seeding with the mediterranean grass seed we bought. I know the arguments against lawns, but can't think of a better solution to be both cool in the heat, and fire resistant. Picking out stones is never ending, as the whole area is made of stones we carried there to build up a flat place in front of our door.

Gratefuls:
- another small amount of rain, accompanied by an inordinate amount of thunder
- this quote from this interview with the artist, Makoto Fujimura:  “We don’t often train our imaginations to be present to reality,” Mako states. “There’s always this surprise, this burning bush in front of us, but we simply learn to ignore it.”
- pimientos padrón for tea, always make me think of Keith and Jan, because we first ate them with them in Seville, Jan mentions them here
