Buttercups and Daisies at the RUH
After a dozen phone calls to and from the hospital and care home, E from next door very kindly gave me a lift to the hospital in Bath at lunchtime as Dad was being discharged. Once we left the ward we were taken to the discharge hub where we waited three hours for Dad’s new pain meds and transport back to the Chocolate Quarter (luckily I was able to travel with him).
Back at CQ, I then spent two hours trying to settle Dad back into his room and the ways that everything worked, it was like it was a brand new experience to him. Last week it took three days before he was finally settled, I guess it’ll take three days again, which is why I’ve had to cancel all my appointments and planned activities for this week and am going to see if I can extend his stay by another week. I feel even more exhausted now than before he went in to respite care in the first place. Thankfully B had just finished her Pilates lesson at the CQ so I was able to get a lift home at 8pm.
Thank you.
